Irma says, “Get a solar charger now!”

Supermarket in Gainesville before Irma

A couple of days before Irma’s most un-lady-like visit, Floridians emptied store-shelves of food, water, flashlights, AA batteries, first-aid kits, even guns and ammo, but there is one item they, at least those who had cell phones, didn’t think of buying – a solar cell-phone charger.

During Irma’s visit, power outages were wide-spread and long lasting. Many places remain without power, even now and in the foreseeable future. In the Obama era, many schools in Florida were recipient to government funded solar panel systems. It was at places like these schools, and some PDs, that tens of thousands of people had to line up, sometimes for hours, to get their cell phones charged, and when they finally got there, they had all of 10 MINUTES of charging time before having to yield to the next cell-phone – go back to the end of the line if you need more juice!

On the other hand, if you had your own solar cell-phone charger, not only could you charge your own cell-phone as soon as the sun come back out, you could offer the service to your friends and neighbors. Then everyone could use their cell-phone as flash-lights to check out what’s still edible in a still blacked out supermarket, lol.

We hardly need being forewarned about the next few hurricanes in line, this year or the next. They will come, just where and when, and by what names. We can wait until the next hurricane season if not the next evacuation order, before scrambling to get one from Amazon ASAP, and then told you would have to wait 20+ business days because it’s been sold out and had to be shipped the slow way from China. The best time to get one is NOW, when the BUY NOW button is just one Amazon link-click away. If you don’t do it TODAY, you won’t do it tomorrow.

Looking for one to buy myself, I checked out the contending solar cell-phone chargers on Amazon.com, and as well to recommend to my friends who live in the danger zone and who may not be too familiar with solar cell-phone chargers. The perfect position to put myself in is to look for a solar charger to buy for my wife Shannon’s I-phone. To reduce the long list on Amazon to a short list here, I would set my sight on the range between $20 and $40, only models with 4-stars-minimum customer ratings please, minimum 10000 mAH power-rating (the highest around 25000 mAH).

In ascending order of price within this price range:.

The first one costs $20.99, rated at 10000 mAH, dual flashlight, dual USB port (can charge 2 phones at once), customer rating – 4.5 stars.    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071GQQSQZ?psc=1

My search ends here.

All free 2-day delivery, not the 4-week delivery by slow boat from China. There are lots more, but to save you the trouble, I have singled out what to me are the top-4 buys.

Which one is the best? There are gives and takes from one to the next, mostly in terms of power-rating, number of USB ports (how many cell phones it can charge concurrently), customer rating and of course price.

My choice is the last one, because of the quadruple-USB.I have at least three local friends with cell-phones but without solar chargers.

Now click one of the above links and buy your chosen favorite charger. Good luck!
